Read Aloud Competition

The Hakka Reading Competition, hosted by National Taiwan Normal University, is open to all currently enrolled students of the NTU System. Registration is available through the QR code provided and runs from September 1 to September 30. The competition will take place on October 9, with results announced on October 10. Awards include First Prize (NT$5,000), Second Prize (NT$3,000), and Honorable Mention (NT$2,000). This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your Hakka reading skills and share in the celebration of Hakka language and culture.

2025 Hakka Language Teaching Enhancement Workshop for Primary and Secondary School Teachers

The 2025 Hakka Language Teaching Advancement Workshop for Elementary and Secondary School Teachers will take place on Saturday, August 30, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Conference Room, B1, Cheng-Da Building, College of Liberal Arts, National Taiwan Normal University. Organized by the College of Liberal Arts and the Hakka Language Center, under the guidance of the Hakka Affairs Council, the workshop features keynote lectures by Director Peng Ya-ling and Professor Hui Jian-yuan on aesthetics and historical issues in Hakka theater. In the afternoon, a roundtable forum will bring together educators to discuss teaching practices and future perspectives, followed by a hands-on Hakka culinary workshop highlighting herbal tea culture. Integrating pedagogy, culture, and practice, the event provides a rich learning experience for teachers.

The Hakka Reading Aloud Competition aims to cultivate students’ oral expression skills and enhance Hakka language proficiency while integrating language learning with the Hakka Culture Program. Eligibility is limited to students enrolled in the first semester of 2024–2025 at NTU, NTNU, or NTUST. Registration runs from September 13 to October 2, 2024, with reading materials announced on September 13. The drawing of lots and schedule will be announced on October 4, and the competition will be held on October 16 at 6:30 p.m. at NTNU (venue to be confirmed). Results will be announced on October 17. Awards include First Prize (NT$5,000), Second Prize (NT$3,000), and Honorable Mention (NT$2,000), with all participants receiving a certificate.
